Jacksonville — K9s For Warriors is hosting a job fair on Friday, February 4, from 10 am to 2 pm in Jacksonville’s James Weldon Johnson Park.
With its mega kennel nearing in Nocatee, K9s For Warriors is looking to complete 40 positions within the next two months and 100 positions within the next year. Positions include K9 Caretakers, K9 Quarantine Trainers, Puppy Program Advisors, Veterinary Technicians, Procurement Specialists and Maintenance Specialists. Salaries include health care benefits plus 401k options.
CEO Rory Diamond described the mega kennel as the world’s largest rescue dog training center.
“And now we have to hire the amazing team members who will rescue training dogs there,” he said.
Diamond says that the organization is looking for those with a heart for serving veterans. K9s For Warriors will train those who want to work with and “love on dogs.”
“We will make it work,” he said. “You don’t need experience. We will give you more professional development than you could ever possibly want.”
K9s for Warriors is dedicated to providing service dogs to Warriors suffering from post-traumatic stress as well as combat and service related injuries. Their goal is to empower Warriors to return to civilian life with dignity and independence.
Diamond is determined to fix the four-year wait list for those veterans in need of a service dog.
“That’s two deployments,” he continued. “The fix – build out this mega kennel and rescue tons of dogs, bring them to our kennel, train them to become service dogs and pair them with warriors on our waiting list. We are trying to erase the wait.”
When asked what potential candidates need, Diamond replied, “A smile.”
“You don’t need anything,” he said. “A resume would be great but not required. We just want you to show up. Tell us who you are and why you want to work for us and we’ll tell you what jobs we have. No appointment necessary, no experience necessary.”
Diamond added that candidates will be able to grow within the company.
K9s For Warriors Nocatee mega kennel is scheduled to open on May 4, 2022.
