The countdown is on for a weekend of canine capers with DogFest at Harewood House on Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 September.
Dogs Trust, the UK’s largest dog welfare charity which has a rehoming center in Leeds is the charity partner for this year’s dog-focused festival and will be welcoming dog lovers and their canine companions to the Dogs Trust Village at the event.
The Village will have lots of fun activities to take part in as well as information about some of the Dogs Trust dogs currently looking for their forever homes – and some will be joining in the fun at the event in the hope of finding new families. There will also be reunion parades for former residents of Dogs Trust to take part in.
Louise Round, Head of Supporter Relations at Dogs Trust, said:
This is the second year we have been DogFest’s charity partner, and we had a fantastic time last year, and so did our dogs. It was wonderful to see so many who were having a great day out with their forever families.
Anyone wanting to raise money for Dogs Trust can take part in the Big Dog Walk at the event. There will be two-kilometre and four-kilometre walks, and one especially for puppies, as well as activities for children to take part in along the way.
Our Dog School colleagues will also be there holding interactive training activities as well as doing demos and giving dog-owners top tips to take home.
DogFest is the ultimate dog’s day out; Visitors will be able to take part in everything from an agility course and flyball to a hay splash bale race, a fun dog show and make a with some doggie diving. Dog lover and television presenter Matt Baker will be attending the event on Sunday 25 September, sharing his adventures and taking part in a Q&A session, alongside experts in all things dog, including members of the Dogs Trust team on hand to help owners with handy advice and top tips.
There is also an action-packed main arena with demonstrations from hugely talented canines and their trainers, including TikTok sensation Lucy Heath.
Team members from Dogs Trust Leeds will be at the event accompanied by some of the lovely dogs currently being cared for at the whilst center they wait to find their forever homes.
Amanda Sands, Dogs Trust Leeds Center Manager, said:
We are really looking forward to DogFest, seeing so many dogs having fun with their families is fantastic and it will be lovely to see former four-legged residents, as well as hopefully find new homes for some of the dogs we are looking after at the moment.
You can book your tickets via the Dogs Trust website at https://www.dogstrust.org.uk/latest/events/dogfest – Every ticket booked via the Dogs Trust website will contribute 15% of the ticket price to Dogs Trust, helping the charity care for around 14,000 dogs every year.
